I’ve been on a lifelong journey to see and accept myself for who I am, and not who someone else told me to be.
Some of the ways i've "come out" have included…
bisexual (2007)
atheist (2008)
non-monogamous (~2015)
genderfluid (2016)
relationship anarchist (~2018)
...and other aspects of myself, like having complex PTSD and being neurodivergent.
I started a selfie project in 2020 to share my explorations of gender, sexuality, growing up in purity culture, body image, relationships, and... well... EVERYTHING that has to do with living in a body.
The project is largely based on IG at selfiesbynat, and I've received MASSIVE encouragement from y'all... plus some uncertainty about how you can accept (or even celebrate!) the body you're in.
Like "Ok nat, you can post hot pics because YOU'RE hot... but I could never do that."
And I KNOW I have "pretty privilege," the benefit of whiteness, and a body type that is—after much rejection—being praised in our culture.
But here's what I want you to know:
It's not about hotness.
It's about how you see yourself, not whether you share your pics.
Your body is a fucking work of ART.
And even if—like me—you experience gender dysphoria, have lived with body dysmorphia, chronic pain, or you just want your brain to be uploaded to the cloud...
Body acceptance + body peace are possible.
I want to lead you through body re-visioning + re-birth.
